Rabindranat Díaz Cardona, (San Sebastián, PR, 1972)
Pintor. Completó un Bachillerato en Bellas Artes con concentración en Pintura en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico en 1996 y en 2002 obtuvo su Maestría en Pintura de Hunter College en Nueva York. Exhibió su trabajo con el Grupo X, colectivo de artistas dirigido por Domingo García. Se le reconoce como uno de los pintores jóvenes más originales. Su primera exposición individual, Portorisenses en 1996, fue premiada por la Asociación Internacional de Críticos de Arte (AICA), Capítulo de Puerto Rico, como la mejor primera exhibición de un artista en Puerto Rico. Su obra pretende ofrecer una mirada muy personal y jocosa a situaciones cotidianas de nuestra actualidad, utilizando pocas imágenes sobre llamativos fondos de colores brillantes e intensos. Establece además una divertida relación entre sus expresivas imágenes y los títulos de las obras, que estimulan la interpretación visual.

Painter. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Painting from the Puerto Rico School of Visual Arts in 1996 and in 2002 obtained his Master of Arts in Painting from Hunter College in New York. His work has been shown with Grupo X, an artists’ collective directed by Domingo García. He is recognized as one of the most original young painters. The Puerto Rico Chapter of the International Art Critics Association awarded his first individual exhibition, Portorisenses, in 1996, best first exhibition by an artist in Puerto Rico. His work offers a very personal and funny look at current everyday situations, utilizing few images over striking backgrounds filled with brilliant and intense colors. He also establishes an amusing relationship between his expressive images and the titles of his works, which stimulate visual interpretation.
