Harak Rubio (San Juan, PR, 1970)

Escultor y escenográfo. Desde 1982 a 1985 estuvo en el taller de gráfica de Isabel Vázquez y practicó diferentes técnicas de cerámica con su abuela Elena Sexto. Comenzó su carrera universitaria en 1989 en la Universidad de Puerto Rico. Estudió dibujo, pintura, gráfica, escultura y diseño de joyería con su padre, el escultor Pablo Rubio. En 1992 al terminar sus estudios con un estilo definido y comprometido con el diseño y la escultura recibió su primer premio en el II Certamen Nacional de Artes Plásticas para Artistas Jóvenes. En ese mismo año entró en el mundo de la producción y el cine, especializándose en Dirección de Arte, Construcción de Sets y Diseño de Ambientación y Escenografía. Su trabajo en dichos campos ha sido merecedor de premios internacionales.

Sculptor and scenographer. From 1982 to 1985 he attended the Isabel Vázquez' graphics workshop and practiced various ceramics techniques with his grandmother Elena Sexto. He started college in 1989 at the University of Puerto Rico. He studied drawing, painting, graphics, sculpting, and jewelry design with his father, sculptor Pablo Rubio. In 1992, upon completing his studies with a defined style and a commitment to design and sculpture, he received his first award at the II National Visual Arts Competition for Young Artists. He entered the world of production and cinema that same year, specializing in art direction, set construction, and scenography and location design, and has received international awards and recognition for his work in those areas.
