Eric H. French Circuns, (Indiana, EEUU, 1969)

Pintor, fotógrafo, dibujante, escultor, artista digital y videoartista. De niño se mudó a Puerto Rico con su familia. Recibió el Primer Premio de Pintura en la Bienal de Arte Joven del Chase Manhattan Bank, un año antes de culminar su Bachillerato en Bellas Artes de la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico en 1994. En 1996 culminó sus estudios de Maestría en Bellas Artes en Savannah Collage of Art and Design de Georgia, donde recibió la beca Malcom Propes por el mejor portafolio de estudiante. Regresó a Puerto Rico en 1996 y actualmente trabaja como profesor de la Escuela de Artes Plásticas y la Universidad de Puerto Rico. La gran fuerza expresiva del color es característica fundamental de su obra pictórica, trabajando medios mixtos con gruesos impastos, en ocasiones aplicados directamente del tubo. A veces hace sus propios pigmentos y trabaja con la noción de métodos tradicionales versus no tradicionales.

Painter, photographer, draftsman, sculptor, digital artist, and video artist. As a child, he moved to Puerto Rico with his family. He received First Prize in Painting at Chase Manhattan Bank’s Young Art Biennial a year before he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Puerto Rico School of Plastic Arts in 1994. In 1996 he completed his Master of Fine Arts at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, where he received the Malcolm Propes Fellowship for best student portfolio. He returned to Puerto Rico in 1996 and currently works as a professor at the School of Visual Arts and the University of Puerto Rico. A fundamental characteristic of his pictorial work is an enormous expressive strength of color, using mixed media with thick impastos that are sometimes applied directly from the tube. At times he makes his own pigments and works with the notion of traditional versus non traditional methods.
