Antonio Cortés Rolón, (Cidra, P.R., 1951)
Pintor, educador, historiógrafo y museólogo. Sus estudios en arte comenzaron con el pintor estadounidense Henry Morgan, en Río Grande y luego con el artista puertorriqueño Edwin Maurás. Obtuvo su primer Bachillerato en Pedagogía con concentración en Arte de la Universidad Interamericana de Bayamón, Puerto Rico, en la cual fundó y dirigió el programa Artes Eclipse. Terminó un segundo Bachillerato en Bellas Artes en la Universidad Interamericana de San Germán. Estudió grabado con la artista Noemí Ruiz y participó en un seminario con el artista norteamericano Larry Rivers. En 1985 obtuvo su Maestría en Pintura y Dibujo de la Universidad de Nueva York y viajó a Boston, Detroit y Canadá. Ha ejercido como profesor en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico y la Universidad Interamericana de Bayamón. Durante un largo periodo se mantuvo viajando a España para exhibir su obra mientras cursaba sus estudios doctorales en Museología e Historiografía, los cuales finalizó en el 2005. Recibió dos distinciones en el 2004 de la Asociación Internacional de Críticos de Arte, por su exposición internacional en España y mejor exposición individual. Su obra ha sido expuesta en Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos, Francia, España, Alemania, República Dominicana y Guadalupe.

Painter, educator, historiographer, and museologist. He began his art studies with American painter Henry Morgan in Río Grande, and later studied with Puerto Rican artist Edwin Maurás. He obtained his first Bachelor of Arts in Education with a major in Art from Inter American University in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, where he established and directed the Eclipse arts program. He completed a second Bachelor of Fine Arts at Inter American University in San Germán. He studied engraving with artist Noemí Ruiz and participated in a seminar with American artist Larry Rivers. In 1985 he obtained a Master of Arts in Painting and Drawing from New York University and traveled to Boston, Detroit, and Canada. He has worked as a professor at the Puerto Rico School of Visual Arts and at the Inter American University in Bayamón. He spent a long period of time traveling to Spain to exhibit his work while pursuing doctoral studies in Museology and Historiography, which he completed in 2005. In 2004 he received two distinctions from the International Association of Art Critics for his international exhibition in Spain and for best individual exhibition. His work has been shown in Puerto Rico, the United States, France, Spain, Germany, the Dominican Republic, and Guadeloupe.
