Susana Espinosa, (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1933)

Ceramista y dibujante. Obtuvo su bachillerato en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Buenos Aires en 1953. Trabajó en una fábrica de cerámica hasta abrir su propio taller en 1958. Vivió varios años en Trinidad, luego en 1968, se estableció en Puerto Rico y comenzó a trabajar con Hal Lasky, hasta abrir un taller con Bernardo Hogan e Isabel Rivera. Desde 1989 pertenece a la Academia Internacional de la Cerámica y su obra ha ganado premios internacionales. Desde la década del setenta ha recibido un sinnúmero de comisiones para murales cerámicos alrededor de Puerto Rico; uno de los más conocidos es el de la destilería Bacardí. En 1977 se unió al grupo Manos y en 1980 fundó, junto a Bernardo Hogan, Toni Hambleton y Jaime Suárez, Casa Candina, donde amplió su obra e impartió clases de cerámica. En el 2003 fue seleccionada para realizar su Torre Mural como parte del Proyecto de Arte Público de Puerto Rico.

Ceramist and draftsman. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires in 1953. She worked at a ceramics manufacturing plant until she opened her own workshop in 1958. She lived for several years in Trinidad, then moved to Puerto Rico in 1968 and began working with Hal Lasky, until she opened a workshop with Bernardo Hogan and Isabel Rivera. She has been a member of the International Academy of Ceramics since 1989 and her work has received several international awards. Since the seventies she has been commissioned on countless occasions to design ceramic murals in different parts of Puerto Rico; one of the most well-known is the one at the Bacardi Distillery. In 1977, she joined the Manos (Hands) group and in 1980 she founded Casa Candina with Bernardo Hogan, Toni Hambleton, and Jaime Suarez, where she expanded her work and taught ceramics classes. In 2003, she was selected to create her Torre Mural (Mural Tower) as part of the Puerto Rico Public Art Project.
