Marta Lahens Conde, (San Juan, PR, 1975)

Pintora y dibujante. En 1993 recibió el Cleveland Institute of Art’s Porfolio Scholarship, y donde obtiene un Bachillerato en Bellas Artes con una concentración menor en Historia del Arte en 1998. Fue una de las primeras veinte de su clase, lo que la convirtió en semifinalista para el Traveling Gund Award. Entre 1993 y 1998, se destacó como orientadora, tutora y maestra de arte, en Puerto Rico y Cleveland. En el 2000, obtuvo el Artist’s Grant del Vermont Studio Center. En junio del 2007, recibió su grado de Maestría en Pintura de la Universidad Interamericana de San Germán, donde también funge como profesora en el programa de bachillerato de Artes Plásticas. Combina elementos en su obra que van desde el modernismo hasta la abstracción. Dentro de la estética logra paisajes líricos, minimalistas y abstractos. Como excelente colorista logra atrapar al espectador mediante el uso sabio del color y nos recuerda con su obra a los fauvistas.

Painter and draftswoman. In 1993 she received the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Portfolio Scholarship and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a minor in Art History from the Institute in 1998. Being among the top twenty in her class, she became semifinalist for the Traveling Gund Award. Between 1993 and 1998, she became known as a counselor, tutor, and art teacher in Puerto Rico and Cleveland. In 2000, she won the Artist’s Grant from the Vermont Studio Center. In June 2007, she received her Master of Arts in Painting from Inter American University in San Germán, where she works as a professor in the undergraduate Plastic Arts program. In her work she combines elements ranging from modernism to abstracts. Within her aesthetic, she achieves lyrical, minimalist, and abstract landscapes. As an excellent colorist, her work captures the spectator with a wise use of color that evokes the Fauvists.
