Melvin Martínez, (San Juan, PR, 1976)
Pintor. En 1997 terminó su primer Bachillerato en Artes Gráficas. La Asociación de Críticos de Arte (AICA) le otorgó el premio Primera Exhibición Individual en 1998. Ha participado en exhibiciones colectivas en España y Puerto Rico y cuenta con varias exposiciones individuales desde 1990. En el 2005 obtuvo un Bachillerato en Bellas Artes con concentración en Pintura de la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico. Forma parte de la generación de artistas jóvenes puertorriqueños que se abren paso en el mundo del arte a nivel local e internacional. En el 2005 su obra Wonderland/El país de las maravillas fue premiada en el II Certamen Internacional de Pintura de Castellón, España. Con motivo de esta importante distinción fue invitado por la Diputación Provincial de Castellón y la Fundación Astroc a exhibir su obra en Madrid a principios del 2006 y fue premiado por la Asociación Internacional de Críticos de Arte, Capítulo de Puerto Rico. Además, en este mismo año, presentó su obra en Miami, Puerto Rico, Alemania y Nueva York, además recibió Mención Honorífica en los Premios MOLAA 2006 en California. En el 2007 participó en Art Basel, en Basilea, Suiza y en London Art Fair, en Inglaterra, además de una exposición individual en Nueva York.

Painter. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Arts in 1997. In 1988, The International Association of Art Critics (“IAAC”) awarded him the First Individual Exhibition prize. He has participated in collective exhibitions in Spain and Puerto Rico and, since 1990, has held several individual exhibitions. In 2005, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a major in Painting, from the Puerto Rico School of Visual Arts. He belongs to the generation of promising young Puerto Rican artists who are making a name for themselves in the world of art at the local and international levels. In 2005 his work Wonderland/El país de las maravillas received an award at the II International Paint Competition in Castellón, Spain. This important recognition led to an invitation from the Provincial Congress of Castellón and the Astroc Foundation to exhibit his work in Madrid in early 2006. He also received an award from the Puerto Rico Chapter of the International Association of Art Critics. His work was shown during the same year in Miami, Puerto Rico, Germany, and New York, and received an Honorable Mention at the 2006 MOLAA Awards in California. In 2007, he participated in Art Basel, in Basilea, Switzerland, in the London Art Fair in England, and held an individual exhibition in New York.
