Néstor Otero, (Caguas, PR, 1948)

Artista gráfico, pintor, dibujante y creador de instalaciones. De niño estudió con Luis Germán Cajigas y luego en Fashion Institute of Technology, Pratt Institute y la Escuela de Artes Visuales de Nueva York. Fue Director de arte del estudio digital neoyorquino Scarlett Letters. Ha representado a Puerto Rico en México, Brazil, Ecuador, República Dominicana (donde obtuvo medalla de oro), Alemania, Barbados, Francia, Cuba y Estados Unidos. Obtuvo el Premio al Mérito del Fondo Nacional para el Financiamiento del Quehacer Cultural en 1996. Sus medios de preferencia son las instalaciones, construcciones y medios mixtos. Utiliza un vocabulario basado en la asociación de símbolos e imágenes cotidianas, donde alude a la existencia humana desde una perspectiva reflexiva.

Graphic artist, painter, sketcher and creator of facilities. As a child he studied with Luis Germán Cajigas and later at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Pratt Institute, and the New York School of Visual Arts. He was art director of the Scarlett Letters digital studio in New York. He has represented Puerto Rico in Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic (where he obtained a gold medal), Germany, Barbados, France, Cuba, and the United States. He won the Merit Award from the National Foundation for the Financing of Cultural Affairs in 1996. His preferred media are installations, constructions, and mixed media. His vocabulary is based on the association of everyday symbols and images with an insightful perspective on human existence.
