José Antonio Peláez, (La Habana, Cuba, 1950)

Grabador, diseñador gráfico, poeta y fotógrafo. Reside en Puerto Rico desde 1961. En 1975 obtuvo su Bachillerato en Arquitectura de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR), además de tomar cursos de gráfica con José Antonio Torres Martinó. En 1977 recibió la Beca Cintas. Para la década del ochenta abandonó la práctica de la arquitectura para dedicarse de lleno a su trabajo artístico, con el que ha participado en varias exhibiciones en y fuera de Puerto Rico, además de haber ganado varios premios. En los ochenta fundó su propio taller, Arte Sobre Papel, mediante el cual ha publicado libros y diversos poemarios. Fue profesor de la Universidad de Monmouth en Nueva Jersey y en la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Puerto Rico; actualmente imparte cursos en la Escuela de Comunicaciones de la misma Universidad.

Engraver, graphic designer, poet, and photographer. He has lived in Puerto Rico since 1961. In 1975 he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), where he also took graphics courses with José Antonio Torres Martino. He received the Cintas Scholarship in 1977. In the eighties he abandoned architecture to dedicate himself fully to his artistic work, and has participated and received several awards in various exhibitions in Puerto Rico and abroad. During the eighties he also founded his own studio, Arte Sobre Papel (Art On Paper), through which he has published books and various collections of poems. He has been a professor at Monmouth University in New Jersey and at the University of Puerto Rico School of Architecture, and currently teaches at the University of Puerto Rico School of Communications.
