Nick Quijano, (Nueva York, EU, 1953)
Pintor, artista gráfico, creador de construcciones y diseñador. Llegó a Puerto Rico en 1967. Hizo cursos de Arquitectura en la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR), pero los abandonó en 1980 para dedicarse a la pintura. Estudió grabado bajo la tutela de José A. Torres Martinó. Trabajó como profesor visitante en la Liga de Estudiantes de Arte de San Juan. En 1994 comenzó una carrera como diseñador –fundador de Designs and Museums Reproductions (DMR)- y trabajó entre Puerto Rico y Guatemala hasta el 2000. En 1996 completó sus estudios de arquitectura y obtuvo un Bachillerato en Diseño Ambiental de la Escuela de Arquitectura de la UPR. Entre las distinciones que ha recibido se destacan el Premio de dibujo del Certamen de Artes Plásticas de la Universidad de Puerto Rico en 1979 y el primer y segundo premio en American National Miniature Show de 1983 en Wyoming. Sus obras, muy coloridas y con cierto aire naif, revelan la esencia caribeña y recogen sus recuerdos infantiles de la vida puertorriqueña, tratados con humor y picardía.

Painter, graphic artist, construction creator, and designer. He arrived in Puerto Rico in 1967. He began studies in architecture at the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), but abandoned them in 1980 to devote himself to painting. He studied engraving under the guidance of José A. Torres Martino and worked as visiting professor at the San Juan League of Art Students. In 1994 he began a career as a designer, establishing Design and Museum Reproductions (DMR), and worked between Puerto Rico and Guatemala until the year 2000. In 1996 he completed his architecture studies and received a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design from the University of Puerto Rico School of Architecture. Noteworthy among the distinctions he has received are: Drawing Prize in the 1979 University of Puerto Rico Plastic Arts Competition; and first and second prize at the 1983 American National Miniature Show in Wyoming. His works are very colorful and possess a certain naïf air about them, revealing the Caribbean essence and his childhood memories of Puerto Rican life with humor and wit.
