Rigoberto Quintana García, (Matanzas, Cuba, 1965)

Pintor, escultor y creador de instalaciones. Comenzó sus estudios en la Escuela Elemental de Arte en Matanzas, Cuba. Hizo un Bachillerato en Escultura y Pintura en la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas de La Habana y en 1989 obtuvo una Maestría en Escultura del Instituto Superior de Arte en dicha ciudad. Llegó a Puerto Rico en 1993. Además de dedicarse a su obra, se desempeña como profesor de arte en la Universidad del Sagrado Corazón y en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico. Su trabajo se ha presentado tanto individual como colectivamente en Cuba, Puerto Rico, Canadá, Estados Unidos y República Dominicana. Ha participado en ferias internacionales de arte como Circa y Arte Américas; así también, en simposios, conferencias y talleres alrededor del mundo. Se le ha premiado varias veces en Cuba y Puerto Rico y para la década del setenta obtuvo el Gran Premio, del Concurso Internacional de Artes Plásticas en Budapest, Hungría. En el 2002 obtuvo el Premio de la Asociación Internacional de Críticos de Arte, Capítulo de Puerto Rico, por la mejor exhibición en Medios Contemporáneos.

Rigoberto Quintana García, (Matanzas, Cuba, 1965)

Painter, sculptor, and installation creator. He began his studies at the Elementary Art School in Matanzas. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sculpting and Painting at the National School of Visual Arts in Havana, and in 1989 obtained a Master of Arts in Sculpting from the Superior Art Institute of the same city. He arrived in Puerto Rico in 1993. In addition to his own artistic creation, he teaches art at Sacred Heart University and the Puerto Rico Museum of Contemporary Art. His work has been exhibited both individually and collectively in Cuba, Puerto Rico, Canada, the United States, and the Dominican Republic. He has participated in international art exhibitions, such as Circa and Arte Américas, as well as in symposia, conferences, and workshops around the world. He has received several awards in Cuba and Puerto Rico, and in the seventies won the Grand Prize at the International Visual Arts Competition in Budapest, Hungary. In 2002 the Puerto Rico Chapter of the International Association of Art Critics awarded him best exhibition in Contemporary Media.
