Rafael Rivera Rosa, (Comerío, PR, 1942)
Pintor, artista gráfico y digital, diseñador gráfico y profesor. Estudió dibujo y pintura en el Taller-Galería Campeche con Domingo García y en el Taller de Gráfica del Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña con Lorenzo Homar. En 1962 obtuvo el Grado Asociado en Dibujo Arquitectónico del Instituto Comercial de Puerto Rico. En 1970, junto a René Pietri y Nelson Sambolín, fundó el Taller Bija, donde diseñó un gran número de carteles. Hizo un bachillerato en Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Puerto Rico y en 1989 completó su Maestría en Artes Plásticas en Pratt Institute de Brooklyn. En 1990 se integró al Departamento de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Puerto Rico como profesor. Desde 1995 es artista residente de la Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples de Puerto Rico. Su obra se ha presentado en más de setenta colectivas. Su obra incluye carteles de carácter cultural, político, xilografías de contenido social expresadas con gran economía de forma y color. Sus pinturas abstractas de gran formato se caracterizan por dinámicos trazos de marcada expresividad y fuerte cromatismo.

Painter, graphic and digital artist, graphic designer, and professor. He studied drawing and painting with Domingo García at the Campeche Gallery-Studio and with Lorenzo Homar at the Graphics Workshop of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture. In 1962 he received an Associate Degree in Architectural Drawing from the Commercial Institute of Puerto Rico. In 1970 he founded Taller Bija with René Pietri and Nelson Sambolín, and there designed a great number of posters. He pursued his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Puerto Rico and in 1989 completed his Master of Arts in Plastic Arts at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. In 1990 he became a professor at the Department of Fine Arts of the University of Puerto Rico. Since 1995 he has been resident artist at the Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples de Puerto Rico. He has participated in over seventy collective exhibitions. His work includes posters of a cultural and political nature; and xylography with a social content, expressed with a great economy of color and form. Dynamic, markedly expressive strokes and strong chromatism are characteristics of his large format abstract paintings.
