Jaime Romano, (San Juan, PR, 1942)
Pintor, creador de construcciones y profesor. Es parte de la generación de artistas puertorriqueños que comenzaron a cultivar el arte abstracto en la década del sesenta. En 1963 obtuvo un Bachillerato en Administración Comercial y para 1966 otro en Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Puerto Rico. Completó una Maestría en Artes de The American University, Washington, D.C. en 1969. Se desempeñó como Vicepresidente de Artes Plásticas del Ateneo Puertorriqueño, profesor de la Liga de Estudiantes de Arte de San Juan y desde 1986 es profesor del Departamento de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Puerto Rico. Obtuvo el Premio de Adquisición en la Primera Muestra Nacional de Pintura y Escultura Puertorriqueña del Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña en 1977. Fue artista invitado del Eleventh International Exhibition of Original Drawings, Museo de Arte Moderno, en Rijeka, Yugoslavia para el 1988 y en 1999 recibió la Medalla Nacional de Artes Plásticas de la Asociación Internacional de Críticos de Arte y en el 2006 el premio por la mejor exposición individual del año. Su trayectoria artística denota una continua e incansable exploración de los medios.

Painter, construction creator, and professor. He belongs to the generation of Puerto Rican artists who began to cultivate abstract art in the sixties. In 1963 he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and in 1966 a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Puerto Rico. He completed his Master of Arts at The American University, Washington, D.C., in 1969. He was vice president of Visual Arts at the Ateneo Puertorriqueño, professor at the San Juan League of Art Students, and since 1986 has been been a professor at the Fine Arts Department of the University of Puerto Rico. He won the Acquisition Prize at the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture’s First National Exhibition of Puerto Rican Painting and Sculpture in 1977. He was guest artist at the Eleventh International Exhibition of Original Drawings at the Modern Art Museum in Rijeka, Yugoslavia in 1988, and in 1999 received the National Medal of the Visual Arts from the International Association of Critics. His artistic trajectory reveals a continuous and untiring exploration of the media.
