Julio Rosado Del Valle, (Cataño, PR, 1922- San Juan, PR, 2009)
Pintor, dibujante, artista, diseñador gráfico e ilustrador. Se inició en el mundo del arte en el taller de Facundo Figueroa y prosiguió con el pintor español Cristóbal Ruíz en la Universidad de Puerto Rico. En 1946, becado por la Universidad de Puerto Rico, estudió en New School for Social Research de Nueva York. Allí fue discípulo del pintor cubano Mario Carreño y del muralista ecuatoriano Camilo Egas. En 1947 recibió una beca para estudiar en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Florencia y viajó también a París. Fue cofundador del Centro de Arte Puertorriqueño en San Juan en 1950. De regreso a Puerto Rico se desempeñó como diseñador e ilustrador de libros para la División de Educación a la Comunidad y el Departamento de Instrucción Pública en San Juan. Fue artista residente de la Universidad de Puerto Rico. En 1957 obtuvo medalla de oro en el certamen Mural Paintings Exhibition, de The Architectural League en Nueva York y la beca de la Fundación Guggenheim, en Nueva York. Sus obras fluctúan entre la figuración y la abstracción, lo que refleja su búsqueda constante de una expresión artística propia.

Painter, draftsman, graphic artist and designer, and illustrator. His first steps in the art world were at the Facundo Figueroa workshop and later with Spanish painter Cristóbal Ruiz at the University of Puerto Rico. In 1946, on a scholarship from the University of Puerto Rico, he studied at the New School for Social Research in New York under Cuban painter Mario Carreño and Ecuadorian muralist Camilo Egas. In 1947, he received a scholarship to study at the Fine Arts Academy in Florence and also traveled to Paris. He was co-founder of the Center for Puerto Rican Art in San Juan in 1950. Upon his return to Puerto Rico, he worked as a book designer and illustrator for the Community Education Division of the Public Education Department in San Juan. He was resident artist at the University of Puerto Rico. In 1957, he won a gold medal at the Mural Paintings Exhibition of the Architectural League in New York and a scholarship from the Guggenheim Foundation in New York. His works fluctuate between the figurative and the abstract, reflecting his constant search for a personal artistic expression.
