Hiram Santiago Guzmán, (San Juan, PR, 1961)
Fotógrafo, artista multidisciplinario y profesor. Antes de comenzar sus estudios trabajó como aprendiz y asistente en diferentes estudios fotográficos de Puerto Rico. En Florida State University obtuvo su Bachillerato en Bellas Artes en 1991 y su Maestría en Bellas Artes en 1995, donde además fue asistente de maestro. Durante sus años de estudio trabajó como asistente en el montaje de exhibiciones para las galerías del estado de Tallahassee. De 1995 a 1999 estuvo trabajando para Hedley’s Inc., en Nueva York, empacando y transportando obras. Fue maestro sustituto en escuelas públicas de Nueva York y voluntariamente laboró en el Departamento de Educación del Museo del Barrio. Ha impartido clases como profesor de fotografía en la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Arecibo, la Universidad Interamericana de San Germán y en la Universidad del Sagrado Corazón en Santurce, donde ejerce actualmente. Ha exhibido su trabajo en Puerto Rico y en varios lugares de Estados Unidos. Trabaja desde su propio taller en Puerta de Tierra, donde se ha vinculado estrechamente con la comunidad y su trabajo ha formado parte de ella.

Photographer, multidisciplinary artist, and professor. Before beginning his studies, he worked as an apprentice and assistant in various photography studios in Puerto Rico. He obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1991 and his Master of Fine Arts in 1995 from Florida State University, where he was also a teaching assistant. While studying, he worked as an exhibition assemblage assistant for the State galleries in Tallahassee. From 1995 to 1999 he worked for Hedley’s Inc., in New York, packaging and transporting artwork. He was a substitute teacher in the New York City public schools and volunteered at the Museo del Barrio’s education department. He has been a photography professor at the Arecibo campus of the University of Puerto Rico, Inter American University in San Germán, and Sacred Heart University in Santurce, where he currently works. He has shown his work in Puerto Rico and at several locations in the United States. He works from his private studio in Puerta de Tierra, where he has developed close community ties and where his work has become a part of the community.
