Gerardo Torres, (Ponce, PR, 1964)
Pintor, dibujante y escultor. Estudió en la Escuela de Arte Miguel Pou de Ponce, con Diógenes Ballester. En 1989 hizo un Bachillerato en Artes Plásticas con concentración en Pintura en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico. Durante sus estudios asistió a un taller de dibujo con Alfonso Arana y participó como estudiante orientador en un taller de grabado. En la década de los noventa trabajó como ilustrador en un proyecto arqueológico en Ballajá. Ha presentado su obra desde 1981 tanto individual como colectivamente. Ha recibido premios y reconocimientos tales como: Primer Premio en Gráfica, Academia de Artes y Ciencias del Museo de Arte e Historia de San Juan (1988); Primer Premio en Pintura y Mención de Honor en Grabado, Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico (1989) y Segundo Premio en Pintura y Medalla Plástica Latina, Fundación Alfonso Arana, Puerto Rico (1991), entre otros. Trabaja el óleo en imágenes hiperrealistas.

Painter, draftsman, and sculptor. He studied with Diógenes Ballester at the Miguel Pou School of Art in Ponce. In 1989 he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts with a major in Painting from the Puerto Rico School of Plastic Arts. As a student he attended a drawing workshop with Alfonso Arana and was a student counselor in an engraving workshop. During the nineties he worked as illustrator in an archeological project in Ballajá. Since 1981 he has exhibited his work individually and collectively. He has received several awards and recognitions, such as: First Prize in Graphics from the Academy of Arts and Sciences of the San Juan Art and History Museum (1988); First Prize in Painting and Honorable Mention in Engraving from the Puerto Rico School of Visual Arts (1989); and Second Prize in Painting and Latin Plastic Arts Medal from the Alfonso Arana Foundation in Puerto Rico (1991), among others. He works hyperrealist images in oil.
