Orlando Vallejo Caraballo, (Caguas, PR, 1955)
Pintor. Su formación artística incluye estudios en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas en San Juan, Universidad del Turabo y la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras. En 1976 hizo un viaje de estudios a Madrid y en 1977 fundó la Galería Ausubo en Caguas. A finales de los ochenta estableció su estudio de pintura en Caguas. En 1997 participó como artista residente en la Fundación Altos de Chavón en la República Dominicana. Ha realizado exhibiciones en República Dominicana, Perú, Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico. La energía de su trazo y su habilidad en el manejo del color, lo llevan a destacar la materialidad de la pintura como elemento fundamental de su obra. El paisaje, el retrato, la naturaleza muerta y la crítica social son temas recurrentes en sus pinturas.

Painter. He studied civil engineering at Bayamón College and drawing and painting at the Puerto Rico School of Visual Arts, with Fran Cervoni and José Alicea. He also studied at the Fine Arts Department of the University of Puerto Rico. In 1976 he traveled to study in Madrid and in 1977 he established the Ausubo Gallery in Caguas. In the late eighties he opened his own art studio in Caguas. In 1997 he was resident artist in Altos de Chavón in the Dominican Republic. He has held exhibitions in the Dominican Republic, Peru, the United States, and Puerto Rico. Through the energy of his strokes and his ability to deal he highlights the materiality of paint as a fundamental element of his work. Landscapes, portraits, still-lifes, social critique, and expressionism are characteristic of his work.
