Luis González (Corozal, PR, 1951)

Pintor y dibujante. Desde temprana edad mostró interés y habilidad por el dibujo y la pintura. Obtuvo un Bachillerato en Educación, con concentración en Arte de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, donde tomó clases con Félix Bonilla, Luis Hernández Cruz, Balossi y Augusto Marín. En 1975 completó otro bachillerato de la Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico. Aprendió la técnica de serigrafía en el taller de Jesús González y en 1987 estableció su propio taller en Guaynabo. Ha participado en varias exposiciones individuales y colectivas en y fuera del país. Ganador del Primer Premio en Pintura de la Asociación Internacional de Plástica Latina en Francia. Sus pinturas captan el mundo natural y humano, caracterizadas por una clara conciencia del color y una preocupación por la perspectiva. Trabaja sus piezas con espátulas, logrando un efecto de fuerza y relieve. Para lograr esto también utiliza polvo de mármol, arena, pasta de modelar y brea.

Painter and draftsman. From an early age he demonstrated an interest and ability in drawing and painting. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education, with a major in Art, from the University of Puerto Rico, where he studied with Félix Bonilla, Luis Hernández Cruz, Balossi, and Augusto Marín. In 1975 he completed another Bachelor of Arts from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico. He learned the silkscreen technique at the Jesús González' workshop and in 1987 opened his own studio in Guaynabo. He has participated in several individual and collective exhibitions in Puerto Rico and abroad. He received First Prize in Painting at the International Association of Latin Plastic Arts in France. His paintings capture the natural and human world, and are characterized by a clear conscience of color and a concern for perspective. He works his pieces with spatulas, achieving the effect of strength and relief. To this end he also uses marble dust, sand, modeling paste, and tar.
